The
Board of Directors of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA),
in its session held on 30 September 2015, has approved loans and grants for
some African countries.
The
total amount of the approved financing is US$ 38.27 million, of which US $ 22.80
million are earmarked, as loans, for participation in financing of two
development projects, US$ 12.00 million for financing line of credit within
BADEA’s program for private sector, and US$ 3.47 million are allocated for
financing twelve technical assistance operations.

Project Description and Components
|
Nyagatare
–Rukomo- Byumba – Base Road is located in the central eastern region of the country
close to the capital “Kigali”. The total length of the road is 124.8 km and
to ease finance, it was divided to to two lots:
- Civil
Works and ancillaries for the construction of an asphalt road with a
length of 73.3 Km and width of 7 meters and two shoulder each of 1.5
meter to be sidewalks with width of 2.0 meters within town in addition
to the construction of storm water drainage installation and providing
of safety measures.
- Consultancy
Services: for the preparation of detailed engineering design, tender
documents and supervision of construction.
- Support
to the project implementation Unit.

Project objectives
|
The
rural development Project aims to contribute to achievement of the national
strategic goals in the transport sector which aims to the development of the
national roads networks and its integration. It aims also to connecting the
central regions within each other and with the capital “Kigali”, reduce
transport time and ease the transport of goods and passengers.

Project Description and
Components
|
The
town “ Trindade” in Sao Tome island lies about 20 Km south west of the
capital “Sao tome” and it is the capital of “Me- Zochi” region and is
considered the second largest town in the country. The project includes 15
centers in the region. The project consists of the following main components
:
[1] Civil Engineering Works and Ancillaries
- Expansion of the
existing water intake on “Manuel Jorge” river to increase its capacity from
2000 to 5100 cubic meters per day.
- Construction of water
treatment plant with capacity of 5100 cubic meters per day and providing
connection with the electric gird.
- Construction of
ground reservoirs with capacity of 900 cubic meters.
Construction of
transmission and distribution lines with total length of 43.1 km. [2] Consultancy Services: for the
review of detailed designs and preparation of the tender documents, assisting
the Executing Agency in launching and analysis of bids, award of contracts
and supervision of the works. [3] Support to the Project
Implementation Unit

Project objectives
|
The
project aims at the improvement of water supply services to the residents of
town of “Trindade” and the surrounding centers to meet the current and future
water demand up to 2035.Improving health conditions to the residents and ease
the suffering in fetching for water specially women and children.
Participating in encouraging the economic activities related to the
availability of water to improve living conditions.
